Design-build work includes: site work, shell, and tenant improvement work for American Savings Bank in Kailua-Kona.  This bank will serve as their main branch in Kona.  Its structure is made up of light gauge metal framing with EIFS finish and a horizontal Antigua Metal roofing and TPO roofing at the equipment wells.  A curtain wall flanks one side of the façade, and is framed with rock veneer.  The interior space consists of two stories, which can be accessed by an open stair or a traction elevator.   The first floor functions as a daily banking branch, while the second floor is used for loan services and training.

The centerpiece of the 13 acre project is the 58,000 sq. ft. Safeway Wailuku store with a Pharmacy, Bakery, Delicatessen, Florist, Bank, and a Starbucks Coffee corner. The shopping center also includes four other buildings offering an additional 44,000 sq. ft. of retail, office, and restaurant space with parking for 537 vehicles in this prime Wailuku location.

Mass Transit Agency – Hilo

This project consists of a new facility for the Mass Transit Agency for the County of Hawaii which includes construction of a Pre-Fabricated Metal Building (American Building Company) 26,500 sf building with 7,000 sf office space for administration staff.  Includes 19,500 sf of warehouse/garage space for transit vehicle (maintenance and repair), 55 bus stalls, and 34 passenger vehicle stalls, bus wash station, and 2 above ground fuel tanks.

Demolition of interior finishes and re-demise of 50,000 sf. Sports Authority to accommodate 3 new retail spaces at Prince Kuhio Plaza. Includes turn-key, built-to-suit construction for Petco and TJ Maxx stores. Scope of work included creation of new interior (mall) and exterior entrances, MEP modifications and system for each store, interior build-out, and equipment and fixture coordination with Petco and TJ Maxx construction managers and national account vendors/contractors.

New retail shell buildings with appurtenant sitework and utilities. The structures consist of burnished masonry walls, steel roof framing, metal decking, TPO roofing, storefronts, EIFS, composite wood siding, aluminum canopies, and mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler and electrical infrastructure. Phase I was compromised of three buildings totaling 30,000 SF. Phase II was compromised of seven buildings totaling 83,000 SF.

Construction of 2 new single story retail shell buildings encompassing 12,000 sf. of floor area with appurtenant landscaping and pavement. Work consists of masonry walls, structural steel and metal deck roofs, membrane roofing, glazed store-fronts, EIFS, composite wood siding, green screens, mechanical and electrical work. The project involves design-assist services, is constructed in an operating facility and requires utility tie-ins.

Kahoma Village

Kahoma Village will consist of 203 units over 21 acres of land in Lahaina town. Multi-family housing will make up approximately half of the units comprised of 17 six-plexes. The other half will be single family cluster and alley loaded homes. In total, there will be 3 multi-family plan types and 8 single family plan types offered in cottage, plantation, and craftsman style. The structures will consist of slab on grade, wood stud framing, engineered truss systems, asphalt shingle roof, vinyl windows, and hardie panel siding. Interior finish options include granite countertops, ceramic tile wainscot with accent band in bath, and split a/c system.

The New LEED Gold Kaiser Permanente – Kona Medical Office Building consists of three free standing structures connected via a covered walkway. Pre-fabricated building kit makes up the structure of all three buildings. The space between the three buildings features a Hawaiian medicinal plant garden and landscaped patios. The buildings and garden are strategically placed to provide shelter from the sun and wind creating a micro-climate which will minimize the amount of water required to irrigate the garden and provide a more usable outdoor space for the building occupants. This project also includes an on-site wastewater treatment system consisting of standard collection and septic tanks for primary treatment with a constructed wetland for secondary treatment. 200 parking spaces with 6 EV charging stations are available for vehicular parking in a two-tiered parking lot. Owner utilized Design and Build method to deliver the project. Facility was completed approximately 3 months ahead of schedule. Maryl Group Construction was the Design/Build team leader.

The tenant build-out for JTB/Oli Oli Ala Moana consisted of interior build out of an existing 9,379 sf space in the lower floor of  Ala Moana Center.  Work included construction of a new storefront, a unistrut hanging system, new air conditioning units, acoustical ceilings, high end cabinetry, new restrooms,  ceramic tile floor, carpet, wall covering and accent painting.    Close coordination with Ala Moana Shopping Center (General Growth Properties) and the client was required.  Project duration was 4 months.
